Today we have an unusual topic on the agenda – games on the projector. We will tell you about all the pitfalls and answer the question of what is better – a projector or TV. Well, as an example, take the Full HD model – Epson EH-TW5300.

We get acquainted

It comes in a small box, where we found a disc with instructions, a power cable and a pleasant -looking control panel. The projector itself is relatively compact and barely exceeds the size of the Xbox One.

There are many mobile details, but everything is collected neatly, we did not notice serious flaws. We liked the material. At first glance, this is not a particularly practical glossy plastic (and even white), but, as the experience of communicating with the model of the past generation showed, even a year later the plastic does not scratch, does not fade and does not yellow.

EH-TW5300 is arranged. On the left, under a removable lid, there is a small dust filter, on the right, under another lid, a lamp is hidden, but control is located on top. Logically, it resembles a television: a power key, a menu travel unit, as well as a switching button between video inputs.

From the unusual – four sliders https://mystake-gb-casino.co.uk/ standing closer to the front edge. One of them adjusts the horizontal trapezoid (more on that below). The second closes the curtain in front of the lens and at the same time turns off the image and sound feed. Well, two more are needed to adjust the focus and increase the image.

The latter can be submitted simultaneously with four sources. There are two HDMI (one of them supports MHL) and D-Sub (VGA) with triple RCA. There is a connector for a USB flash drive. You can’t lose films from it, but the projector understands JPG photography. But the output is only one-3.5 mm jack for acoustics or headphones. Little, especially if there are 5 at home.1 acoustics.

However, we will not be distracted.

Into the wall

Although the projector is still perceived as something unusual and very complicated, to connect and set it up is a couple of minutes. Insert the power cable, hdmi and click the "enable" button. In a good way, that's all. The source is from the image, and the projector sends it to the wall. Further, pleasant nuances and light difficulties begin.

The first thing you have to face is the question of "where to project?". This is actually not a problem. At first, you can display a picture on any bright wall. The colors will not be very bright, but the image size will block any disadvantages.

Our EH-TW5300 from a distance of about two and a small meters painted the screen with a diagonal of 80 inches! And this is in the usual room. The maximum that we managed to squeeze is 135 inches when you remove about four meters. And it is very impressive.

However, we do not advise living without a screen. After about a month or two, you get used to the dimensions and begin to notice the shortcomings of the "wall". There is only one way out – buy a projection canvas. For a hundred inches today they ask for from 5,000 rubles. Expensive, but it's worth it.

Where to put

The second difficulty is the installation site. No matter how trite it may sound, but the projector is still not a TV and it will not work to put it in the far corner. Ideally, the projector is placed exactly opposite the screen: either on the shelf behind the viewer or on the ceiling (fasteners will cost about 3,500 rubles). Difficult? In Epson this provided.

For the first time, the projector can be put on a nightstand or chair next to the bed, and then adjust the projection itself. With the help of three extending legs, you can slightly raise or lower the image, and the cuttings of the correction change the proportions of the parties.

Epson vertical distortions are extinguished on the machine, and the horizontal must be selected by a slider next to the lens. Deviations of a maximum of 30 degrees for each of the axes are straightened. Translated into human-at a distance to the screen of two meters EH-TW5300, it is really possible to shift from the center somewhere by 1.2 meters. And this is just the same bedside table next to the sofa or bed. Of course, corrections are not in vain. Firstly, the diagonal decreases. Secondly, the clarity of the picture falls a little. But the comfort is worth it.

But what you really need to tinker with is with wires. All sources (consoles, TV setups, computers) will have to be installed next to the projector, otherwise you need to either purchase long HDMI cables and gently breed them around the room, or configure the wireless network. For example, the image can be packed through some HDMI transmitter like Gigabyte SkyVision WS100, and the sound is brought up by Bluetooth to the soundbar of the LG SH7B sound. However, this is a topic of a separate conversation, and we will still raise it. Now let's move on to practice.

Technologies

To begin with, EH-TW5300 uses 3LCD technology to form a picture. This is its own development of Epson, which it does not share with anyone. And, I must say, it does correctly. The color picture is completely formed inside the projector and only then is displayed on the screen. And this excludes the effect of the rainbow and gives a huge color brightness, which allows you not to think about lighting in the room.

In fact, only lamps of daylight or a bright sun, beating right into the wall, can interfere with the project on the projector. But if the street is cloudy or you have at least light curtains, the problem disappears. Automatic diaphragm increases contrast, and the reserve of brightness is enough to score the outer light and display a picture of normal quality to the screen. Only black suffers noticeably in such cases – it loses depth and becomes closer to gray. However, this can interfere only in very dark games, like Dying Light.

But if you nevertheless darken the room, then there are no complaints about EH-TW5300 at all. Although he has static contrast only 344: 1, he shows so cool that half of Russian cinemas loses to him as an excessive. Moreover, both by color rendering (we measured the average deviation by color (∆e00) in 0.45), and by the clarity of the image. If you watch movies in normal Full HD (without wild compression), then, like on any TV, you can see on the faces of the actors literally every dash and wrinkle.

By the way, for each level of lighting, the projector has its own pre -installations. For daily viewing, a “dynamic” mode is recommended, which slightly donates color renders, but increases the overall brightness. And for dark time of day there is a “movie” mode – on the contrary, it reduces brightness, increases the accuracy of work and, importantly, reduces the speed of the cooling system.

Another advantage of EH-TW5300: it supports 3D STEREO and works with one of the best, in our opinion, technology-bolt. Glasses for her are expensive – from 3,000 rubles per pair – but the effect is very good. Not only do the films look amazing (if you like 3D), but also NVIDIA 3D Vision is supported, and this greatly facilitates the work with the computer.

We play

However, you won’t surprise anyone with films on the big screen, but at home, but the games on a hundred inches canvas are really impressive. Of course, it is difficult to play classic role -playing games with a bunch of text on such a screen or build cities in CITIES: SkyLines , But any action, third -person roofs, racing and sports simulators amazing the imagination and are perceived in a completely different way.

Rise of the Tomb Raider She looked like a powerful movie unit with amazing production and sound engineering. And the last addition to the third "Witcher" We went like an interactive film. The effect of the presence literally went off the way. Herald in full -size was felt very vividly, and the game itself captured much more than on an ordinary monitor.

They look great on a huge diagonal and racing, especially arcade, like the last Need for Speed. But in FIFA 16 The big screen created the feeling that you were watching football in the bar. And even at such a scale it became easier to track the movements of the players. On which leg the ball lies, how the case is turned – everything is visible much better, and this greatly facilitates management.

By the way, about management and serious simulators. There is a myth that it is possible to play normally on projectors only in single games, since the lag is too great. We paid special attention to this during tests and we can responsibly declare that there are no delays in the process. The only thing that is always necessary to do is to include vertical synchronization in games, otherwise at FPS above 80 ruptures of the picture will occur. Otherwise – no complaints.

► play Rise of the Tomb Raider And FIFA 16 Using a projector – a pleasure!

* * *

The transition to the projector is not as complicated as it seems. In tuning and connecting it is very similar to the TV, and all the nuances of the installation and organization of space are not necessary to settle at once. For the first time, the usual light wall and bedside tables are enough next to the sofa.

As for the price, the average Full HD model (and if you buy, then only them) cost about 55-70 thousand rubles. Expensive, but when compared with the TV, the maximum that can be taken for this money is a 55-inch model. And the projector will draw both 100 and 135. To our taste, games on such diagonals look stunning.

Finally, is it good Epson EH-TW5300 that we have chosen? Yes, definitely. He is not very demanding on the installation site, is not afraid of light premises, supports 3D stereo and, importantly, is almost noisy and does not heat up.
